I am going to write about someone who has a beautiful, clear voice and a unique hair style, “The Weeknd” this time. (It is spelled “Weeknd”, not “Weekend”, which would be the usual spelling of the word.)
The Weeknd is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. His real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye and he was born February 16, 1990, in Toronto, Canada. He is the only child of his parents who moved from Ethiopia to Canada in the 1980s.
His first language is Amharic, which he learned from his grandmother. He also became fluent in French from the French-immersion class he attended until 8th grade.
In 2011, He started his career with mixtapes “House of Balloons”, “Thursday”, and “Echoes of Silence”. Then he met musician and producer Jeremy Rose. They started working together and created three songs, “What You Need”, “Loft Music”, and “The Morning” in 2010. They also shared a website and Youtube channel together. These songs spread quickly and were also mentioned in a blog post featuring songs by CanadianrapperDrake.
In 2013, he released his debut studio album “Kiss Land” and collaborated on the song “Live For” with rapperDrake. This debut album “Kiss Land” peaked at number two in the U.S and sold over 96,000 copies.
I was shocked when I heard his voice for the first time. He has such a clear voice, which I noticed especially when I watched The Weeknd and Ariana Grande’s duet “Save your tears”, which was amazing… I am sure he will continue to spread his voice around the world for the enjoyment of this generation.
